I agree the reputation of EngSci has definitely gotten better over the years, and being two years out of school, my sentiment towards EngSci has certainly changed somewhat positively compared to when I first wrote this piece.

That being said, I believe the main reputation of EngSci still lies in its research / academic connections, which is why you see a lot of EngSci alumni in academic positions at top universities worldwide. Compared to our academic reputation, however, our industry reputation is still lagging behind, especially outside of the GTA / Canada. I've worked at US startups / unicorns (that don't hire extensively from Canada) and to them, EngSci is relatively unknown.

I do agree that EngSci has taught us invaluable skills (problem-solving, time management, etc.) that enable its alumni to go on and achieve great things.
